Visit to Tintagel Castle and Warbstow Bury – 30th July 2017
This year’s Festival of Archaeology will run from the 15th till the 30th July, with events taking place nationwide. However for the first time in recent years CBA South West has decided to get in on the action too and we will be paying a visit to the ongoing excavations at Tintagel Castle before moving on to Warbstow Bury.
Our day will begin at 10:00 meeting at the Tintagel Castle entrance, visitor centre, where Win Scutt, Assistant Properties Curator (West) for English Heritage, will lead us on a tour of the ongoing excavations of the site. After lunch, either at the sites café or bring your own, Win has very kindly offered to lead us on a tour of Warbstow Bury and we will meet in the sites car park at 15:00. More information about Warbstow Bury can be found here and the site is situated just outside of Warbstow, Launceston, Cornwall. PL15
We will not be charging for this event, though there is a charge to gain entry into Tintagel Castle which is free to members of English Heritage. Also due to numbers booking for this event is essential. Members wishing to book can do so by visiting the event page on Eventbrite
Finally though it will be summer we cannot guarantee the weather, so please be sure to wear weather appropriate attire or at least carry it with you. Also due to the rough terrain and steep steps at Tintagel Castle the wearing of good sturdy footwear is a must.
